STA, 13 September 2018 - More than three months after the election, the Marjan Šarec centrist cabinet was sworn in on Thursday as Slovenia's 13th government since independence, the first minority cabinet to date.

STA, 13 September - The head of the Democrats (SDS) Janez Janša told parliament on Thursday that leading a coalition of "six parties, one of which with supra-coalition status" will be a nightmare for PM Marjan Šarec and that each day under such a government would be a day lost for Slovenia.
STA, 12 September 2018 - Telekom Slovenije, the state-owned telecoms incumbent, has agreed to pay EUR 50m to rival provider T-2 in a settlement of their long-running legal battle over abuse of dominant market position, several media have reported, citing unofficial sources. Telekom supervisors are to decide on the settlement on Thursday.

A report from SchengenVisaInfo.com shows that while Slovenia is becoming an increasingly attractive place to visit, as seen by the crowds of people enjoying Bled this summer, digging into the data reveals something rather interesting. While there was a 13% rise between 2016 and 2017 in the number of people applying for a so-called Uniform Schengen Visa (USV) at a Slovenian consulate, the number of applicatiosn that were rejected also increased, and by a much greater extent. A USV is a short stay visa allowing its holder to travel freely in the Schengen area, now covering 26 countries.
STA, 12 September 2018 - The gross pay bill in the public sector increased by 5.1% or EUR 180.3m in 2017 over the year before, according to a government report. The number of public sector employees went up by 2.4%, while the average pay was 3.35% higher in 2017 year-on-year.
