Migration
"Asylum, NGOs and abuse of system": Having received internal police documents, the paper says it is becoming clear that NGOs have engaged in a number of contentions practices in helping migrants to illegally enter Slovenia. (front page, 4)

State of the Union
"'Enlightened European patriotism'": European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker rejects nationalism in his "state of the Union address". (front page, 3)

Writers' association
"Writers to be led by Aksinja Kermauner": The youth fiction author, poet and pedagogue becomes the first female head of the Slovenian Writers' Association in five decades. (front page)

DNEVNIK

Appointment of govt
"13th govt to be appointed on 13 September": Slovenia is to get is first minority government today. Stojan Trampe, who served as secretary general in the office of former President Danilo Türk, will become the government secretary general. (front page, 2)

State of the Union
"Europeans, respect the Union!": European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker held his annual "state of the Union" address on Wednesday, calling for patriotism but not for nationalism. (front page, 16)

FINANCE

Retail
"26-fold increase for Jager in two decades": The paper looks at which of the retail chains made the best use of the increased consumer spending in 2017. The winners of the year were the family-owned Jager, which has seen a remarkable expansion in the last 20 years, as well as Hofer and Eurospin. (front page, 2, 3)

Public sector stats
"Wage and workforce figures in public sector in 2017": Everything expanded significantly in the public sector in 2017, including the total wage bill, by 5.1%, and the number of employees, by 3,700. (front page, 4, 5)
