As filmed with a potato.

Older British readers may remember the series the following videos were drawn from, one of the explosion late 80s shows made by the cool kids, for the cool kids, commissioned by producers who had been hippies and presented by folk who had been punks, with the female host wearing sunglasses all the time and going by the name Magenta Devine.

Part 1 isn’t online, and the image quality is appalling, but if you can get past that then you’ll get an interesting glimpse at what life was like three decades ago in Slovenia.

Part 2: “Are you Yugoslavian or Slovenian?”…local media (including a look at the “prominent human right campaigner” Janez Janša in his hero days at Mladina, and Marcel Štefančič with short, dark hair)… Postojna caves…Ljubljana Old Town…the Yugo car…the coast…

Part 3: The coast…nudism…Piran…Portorož…interviews with tourists…student life…Borghesia…local music…Ljubljana market

Part 4: NSK…Laibach…architecture…design…the army…gay rights…Bled…a performance artist…
