As recently noted in a story on second homes in Slovenia, Bovec is the fourth most popular place for such properties in the country. It’s the first town that comes to mind if you think of the great outdoors, adventure sports and more sedate pursuits in an environment characterised by mountains, valleys, gorges and clear running rivers and waterfalls. (See our brief introduction to the place here.) It’s where people go to hike, bike, kayak, canyon, paraglide, climb, paint, photograph, follow history and eat, among other things, with skiing nearby in the winter and the Italian border not far away.

It’s the site of this week’s property, a two-bedroom house a short walk from the centre of Bovec, on sale at the moment for €90,000 and being handled by Think Slovenia, who describe it as follows:
Renovated end of terrace house with views over the surrounding Bovec mountains, only a couple of minutes’ walk from the centre, and in walking distance to all of the amenities of this attractive resort town.
The house spreads over three floors and comprises an entry room, an open plan kitchen/dining/living area with a wood burning stove linked to the heating system and guest toilet on the ground floor, two bedrooms, one with balcony access offering views over the mountains, small office and a bathroom on second floor. The attic represents an open space which could be turned into additional living space. There is allocated parking in front of the house.
The town of Bovec is known for the breath-taking Soča river, which offers numerous water sports and the ski resort of Kanin, which is connected to the Italian resort of Sella Nevea. The surrounding mountains of the Julian Alps offer fantastic hiking, cycling and a plethora of other activities in pristine nature. An excellent purchase for holiday usage or permanent residence with good rental potential.
