STA, 28 May 2018 - The 300 largest Slovenian companies generated a combined EUR 41.7bn in revenue and EUR 1.7bn in profit last year, an increase of 13.5% and 21.4%, respectively, from the year before, shows a survey published by the newspaper Delo on Monday. The list is topped by energy company Petrol.

STA, 23 May 2018 - Slovenia's pharma group Krka posted EUR 338.3m in sales in the first quarter of the year, an all-time quarterly high and a 5% increase on the same period last year. Net profit was up by 16% to EUR 49.4m.

STA, 22 May - Slovenia's economy has slowed down slightly in the first quarter of the year but remained well above the average of eurozone members, Banka Slovenije said on Tuesday in its macroeconomic trends review for May. It expects the investment cycle to continue, adding that the needs of the labour market are being met above all by foreign workforce.

STA, 18 May 2018 - The final 2017 tourism data by the Statistics Office confirmed today the continuing strong expansion of the sector in Slovenia. The number of overnight stays exceeded 12 million for the first time last year, reaching 12.6 million and surpassing the 2016 figure by 13%. Tourist arrivals were up 15% to 4.95 million, also a new record.

STA, 17 May 2018 - A parliamentary inquiry into suspected money laundering at NLB and NKBM banks has spread the blame wide for suspected misdeeds at Slovenia's largest banks. In the case of NLB, it pointed the finger at the Borut Pahor government (2008-2011), former central bank governor Marko Kranjec and several senior bank executives.

STA, 17 May 2018 - Slovenia's biggest boat show, Internautica, will open at Marina Portorož on Thursday, presenting more than 200 vessels and some 350 exhibitors. At least half of the exhibitors will be from abroad, with a special focus on the nautical industry of Sicily.

STA, 16 May 2018 - Slovenian companies obligated to publicly report their business results made EUR 3.62bn in cumulative net profit in 2017, which is a 15% increase compared to the year before, the AJPES public records agency reported on Wednesday. Combined revenue at the companies that employed a total of 481,300 people totalled EUR 93.84bn.

STA, 15 May 2018 - Brexit could become an opportunity for Slovenia, a debate discussing the UK's exit from the EU heard in Ljubljana on Tuesday. Some businesses are relocating not only to western but also to central and eastern Europe, where Slovenia has a competitive advantage, according to acclaimed economist Mojmir Mrak.
