STA, 23 July 2018 - Tourism workers from Bela Krajina dismissed on Monday media reports about "an emergency state" in this south-eastern region which has been the main Balkan migration route entry point to Slovenia. They said that to their knowledge not a single incident had occurred so far and that visitor figures are on par with last year's and far above 2016.

STA, 10 July 2018 - The Slovenian police has again rejected accusations that it has been engaging in legally dubious forced rejection of asylum seekers on the south-eastern border with Croatia. It argued on Tuesday that the returns to Croatia are a result of most foreigners abusing rules by announcing but not filing asylum applications.

STA, 9 July 2018 - The newspaper Dnevnik reports on Monday that Slovenian NGOs had found out that police officers are forcedly rejecting asylum seekers who cross the Slovenian border in the south-eastern region of Bela Krajina and returning them to Croatia. The police and the Ministry of the Interior have meanwhile denied these reports.

STA, 18 June 2018 - A total of 1,450 people requested asylum in Slovenia last year, including 388 unaccompanied minors. The number of requests for asylum rose significantly in the spring only to plunge in June, Katarina Bervar Sternad of the Legal Information Centre of NGOs said at a book presentation on Monday.

STA, 7 June 2018 - Interior ministry officials from the countries along the Balkan migration route, from Greece to Austria, urged joint mechanisms to fight and control illegal migrations as they met in Sarajevo on Thursday.
