STA, 31 August 2018 - The group around port operator Luka Koper posted EUR 35m in net profit in the first half of the year, or 27% more year-on-year, the core company announced on Friday, noting that the result included EUR 9.1m in received compensation. Net sales revenues were meanwhile up by 5% to EUR 113m. 

STA, 2 September - Tourism services providers on the Slovenian coast are bidding farewell to what they say was a very successful summer season. In Portorož, last year's figures were exceeded and hotels' revenues are also higher than last year, Izola welcomed more guests than last summer. Reports from Koper are similarly positive. 

STA, 20 August 2018 - Ninety-five illegal migrants were apprehended in the areas policed by the Koper and Novo Mesto police departments along the border with Croatia at the weekend. 

STA, 13 August 2018 - A 19-year-old Polish man, who crashed into a police car during a Hollywood-style car chase in the Koper area last Monday, has been arrested in Italy and handed over to the Slovenian authorities. 

STA, 7 August 2018 - The Koper police have taken away three dogs from a Swiss citizen who has left the pets in her car several times during the ongoing heatwave. After she got a hefty fine for leaving two dogs in the car and resisting the police last week, it soon became clear that she is a repeat offender. 

STA, 14 June 2018 - The operators of the ports in Slovenia's Koper and China's Ningbo have signed an agreement on cooperation to increase trade between China and central and eastern Europe. Slovenia's Luka Koper thus officially became a part of the China-led initiative for the new Silk Road. 

STA, 13 May 2018 - Voters upheld the law governing the financing of the railway upgrade between the Koper port and the inland hub Divača in the repeat referendum on Sunday. The government will try to immediately kick-start the project, but the initiator of the referendum plans to appeal the result yet again in order to delay the law until after the election. 

STA, 11 May 2018, - Seven out of a total of nine defendants in a major drug and people trafficking case known as Cobra were found guilty of drug trafficking and illegal migrants smuggling on Friday, getting 31 years and four months in prison. 

STA, 8 May 2018 - Fresh figures from the Koper and Novo Mesto police departments covering the border areas with Croatia show a significant increase in the number of illegal migrants and asylum seekers, especially this month.
