STA, 19 July 2018 - The Slovenian branch of Amnesty International reiterated Thursday Slovenian police were rejecting migrants on the border without duly processing their asylum requests, an unlawful practice known as push-back.

STA, 17 July - Last year, 15,500 foreign citizens immigrated to Slovenia, while there were also 3,300 Slovenians who moved back to their homeland. Almost 9,900 Slovenians and 7,700 foreigners emigrated from the country. That means that net migration was positive and the highest since 2011, the Statistics Office said.

STA, 10 July 2018 - The Slovenian police has again rejected accusations that it has been engaging in legally dubious forced rejection of asylum seekers on the south-eastern border with Croatia. It argued on Tuesday that the returns to Croatia are a result of most foreigners abusing rules by announcing but not filing asylum applications.

STA, 2 July 2018 - Neža Kogovšek Šalamon, the head of the NGO Peace Institute (Mirovni inštitut), warned against the proposed setting up of controlled migrant centres in response to agreements made at the EU Summit on migrations in Brussels. She deems such centres problematic because refugees would be confined to the centre until their asylum request is processed.

STA, 28 June 2018 - Slovenia has no intention of making any kind of bilateral agreement with Germany or any other country on accepting asylum seekers from those countries, Prime Minister Miro Cerar pointed out as he arrived at a summit on migrations starting in Brussels on Thursday.
