STA, 9 July 2018 - The latest data provided by the police and the government office for migrants show that the number of illegal border crossings and asylum applications in Slovenia dropped significantly in June following a spike in May. 

STA, 9 July 2018 - The newspaper Dnevnik reports on Monday that Slovenian NGOs had found out that police officers are forcedly rejecting asylum seekers who cross the Slovenian border in the south-eastern region of Bela Krajina and returning them to Croatia. The police and the Ministry of the Interior have meanwhile denied these reports. 

FRONTEX is also known as the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, and is tasked with the work of controlling the border of the Schengen area. 

After Germany’s decision to set up migrant centres on its border with Austria, and Austria’s decision to strengthen its borders with Italy and Slovenia, several Slovenian newspapers commented on the situation. 

STA, 2 July - The Inspectorate for the Environment and Spatial Planning is investigating a Croatian mussel farm in the Bay of Piran, which has expanded in just over a year across the Slovenian-Croatian national border as defined by the border arbitration. 

The papers take a dim view of the summit.

STA, 28 June 2018 - Slovenia has no intention of making any kind of bilateral agreement with Germany or any other country on accepting asylum seekers from those countries, Prime Minister Miro Cerar pointed out as he arrived at a summit on migrations starting in Brussels on Thursday.

STA, 26 June 2018 - Outgoing Prime Minister Miro Cerar labelled a major border protection exercise carried out by the Austrian police and army along the Slovenian border on Tuesday "somewhat provocative". 

STA, 18 June 2018 - Prime Minister Miro Cerar announced on Monday that the government would adopt on Thursday the decision on taking Croatia to the EU Court of Justice over its non-implementation of the border arbitration award. He said the coalition was united that the lawsuit must be filed.
