STA, 28 June 2018 - Parties conducting talks with the election runner-up Marjan Šarec of the LMŠ party agreed on Thursday that they would not draw up a coalition agreement but merely a list of projects they deem important for Slovenia. Coming out of the talks, Šarec said the next round of negotiations would be held on Friday.

STA, 28 June 2018 - The head of New Slovenia (NSi) Matej Tonin, who was appointed National Assembly speaker last week, does not exclude the possibility of staying on despite ostensibly being appointed as a stand-in until a new coalition is formed. But this is the subject of political agreement and relationships in the potential coalition, he told the STA.

STA, 27 June 2018 - The executive committee of the Modern Centre Party (SMC) unanimously decided at Tuesday's session to expel Milan Brglez, a party vice-president, from the SMC. Brglez wrote on Facebook he had been expelled for being an upright politician, for occasionally being critical of the party and for opposing a coalition with the Democrats (SDS).

STA, 26 June 2018 - After testing grounds with individual parties, the Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ) hosted on Tuesday the first meeting of all six parties that had entered the LMŠ-sponsored talks on potential coalition building. Meanwhile, Janez Janša of the election-winning Democrats (SDS) said "we're not rushing things".

STA - After taking over as leader of New Slovenia (NSi) only months ago, Matej Tonin was appointed parliamentary speaker on Friday. Although it may be that he will remain speaker only for a short while, his intention to overcome ideological divides appears to be paying off for the ambitious young politician.

STA, 22 June 2018 - Matej Tonin, the 34-year-old leader of the conservative party New Slovenia (NSi), was elected speaker of parliament by a near unanimous vote at the inaugural session on Friday in a cross-partisan bid designed to break the deadlock after neither right nor left bloc won a clear majority in the 3 June election.

STA, 22 June 2018 - In what could be indicating a future rainbow coalition in Slovenia, Marjan Šarec of the election runner-up LMŠ has announced the LMŠ along with centre-left parties will join forces with the centre-right New Slovenia (NSi) to propose NSi head Matej Tonin for temporary parliamentary speaker. Tonin said he had the support of all parties bar the Left.

STA, 22 June 2018 - The left-leaning weekly Mladina says in its latest commentary it is sick of hearing from all governments certain "lies and stupidities" which actually have a great impact on the fate of the country, saying that some things are simply not true, while politicians believe in them, and the media are constantly reproducing them.

STA, 21 June - The five centre-left parties are yet to agree on the candidate for the speaker ahead of Friday's maiden session of parliament with Marjan Šarec telling reporters on Thursday that several names were at play.
