STA, 17 July - Last year, 15,500 foreign citizens immigrated to Slovenia, while there were also 3,300 Slovenians who moved back to their homeland. Almost 9,900 Slovenians and 7,700 foreigners emigrated from the country. That means that net migration was positive and the highest since 2011, the Statistics Office said.

STA, 17 July - The decision of the conservative party New Slovenia (NSi) to quit the six-way coalition talks led by election runner-up Marjan Šarec invited mixed reactions on Tuesday with Šarec's party noting that it was up to Janez Janša as the election winner to make a move.

Earlier this year, just before the summer season started, the City Museum of Ljubljana opened a new permanent exhibition called Ljubljana. History. City. This presents a chronological look at the history of the land the city now stands on, from prehistoric times and the Pile Dwellers, who made the world’s oldest wooden wheel with an axle, up to the end of the 20th century, when Ljubljana became the capital of an independent Slovenia.

STA, 16 July 2018 - A new collective bargaining agreement for retail workers was signed in Ljubljana on Monday. It stipulates that shops will no longer be open on holidays, bar some exceptions, while Sunday work will be paid more than it is now. Moreover, many employees will see their pay increase next year.

STA, 16 July 2018 - French boat builder Beneteau has acquired a 60% stake in Seascape, a Slovenian company specialising in designing, building and marketing performance sailing yachts. The remaining 40% stake is held by Seascape's founders Andraž Mihelin and Kristjan Hajnšek.

STA, 16 July 2018 - Average pay in Slovenia was at EUR 1,663 gross and EUR 1,078 net in May. The figures were slightly down compared to the month before but an improvement over May 2017, the Statistics Office said on Monday.
