STA, 22 August 2018 - Two unselected bidders for the construction of the Slovenian section of the second tube of the Karavanke motorway tunnel between Slovenia and Austria have filed for a review of the pick of a Turkish contractor for the job. This will effectively delay the start of the work by at least a few months.

STA, 20 August 2018 – TAB, the Mežica-based maker of vehicle and stationary batteries, announced on Monday that its talks with the South African battery maker Metair Investments on a potential strategic tie-up had been suspended. Metair reportedly decided to focus on optimisation of its existing companies due to exchange rate volatility in South Africa and Turkey.

STA, 17 August 2018 - Slovenia's leading insurance group, Triglav, posted a net profit of EUR 30m in the first half of the year, a drop of 17% compared to the same period last year, while consolidated gross written premiums rose by 5% to EUR 574.8m.

STA, 16 August 2018 - The Velenje-based household appliances maker Gorenje, which is in 95% ownership of China's Hisense, expanded its management board on Thursday with six representatives of the owner, with Franjo Bobinac staying at the helm of the management board. Hisense also announced to withdraw Gorenje from the Ljubljana Stock Exchange.

STA, 14 August 2018 - Knauf, the multinational whose insulation division includes Knauf Insulation Škofja Loka, has announced the construction of a new factory in Malaysia. The investment, estimated at EUR 120m, is also expected to benefit Knauf's Slovenian subsidiary, which is responsible for sales in that part of the world.
