January 20, 2019 - The STA has checked the calendar and prepared the following list of political and state event for the coming week:
MONDAY, 22 January
LJUBLJANA - The National Assembly plenary for January will start with a Q&A session with Prime Minister Miro Cerar and his cabinet.
STRASBOURG, France - The start of a three-day session of the Council of Europe' Parliamentary Assembly which will decide on a new CoE Human Rights Commissioner. Slovenian Justice Minister Goran Klemenčič is among the shortlisted candidates.
BRUSSELS, Belgium - Finance Minister Mateja Vraničar Erman will attend a session of the Eurogroup.
BRUSSELS, Belgium - Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec will attend a session of the EU's Foreign Affairs Council.
SOFIA, BULGARIA - The chairs of parliamentary EU affairs councils will meet, including Slovenia's Kamal Izidor Shaker.
LJUBLJANA - An event called National Day on the Environmental Implementation Review, will be held by the Ministry for the Environment and Spatial Planning and the European Commission's Environment Directorate-General.
KLAGENFURT, Austria - The Tischler Award, an accolade for Slovenians or Slovenian institutions credited with promoting the cause of the Slovenian minority in Austria, will be conferred.
POSTOJNA - A military exercise featuring Slovenian and Latvian joint terminal attack controllers; until 26 January.
TUESDAY, 23 January
DAVOS, Switzerland - Prime Minister Miro Cerar will attend the World Economic Forum; until 26 January.
BRUSSELS, Belgium - Finance Minister Mateja Vraničar Erman will attend a session of the EU's Economic and Financial Affairs Council.
LJUBLJANA - The National Assembly will debate a bill to stimulate tourism development, a bill reorganising the institution running the Lipica Stud Farm into a holding and a bill on adult education.
LONDON, UK - Maja Makovec Brenčič, the minister of education, science and sport, will attend the Education World Forum, the world's largest gathering of education ministers.
LJUBLJANA - AmCham, the American chamber of commerce, will host a business breakfast dedicated to the fusion of the digital and the physical world.
LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Olympic Committee will finalise the list of Slovenian participants for the PyeongChang.
WEDNESDAY, 24 January
LJUBLJANA - Over a dozen public sector trade unions will stage a one-day strike to demand pay rises.
BRUSSELS, Belgium - Maja Makovec Brenčič, the minister of education, science and sport, will hold talks with EU Education Commissioner Tibor Navracics.
LJUBLJANA - A press conference at the start of a two-day show for conventions, business meetings and events in SE Europe Conventa.
LJUBLJANA - The trial of a pair over alleged security breach in Tetra, the government's secure communications system, will get under way.
LJUBLJANA - The presentation of a EU Commission report on the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) will be held, followed by a panel on Slovenia's views on CAP.

LJUBLJANA - Scandal in the St. Florian Valley, one of the biggest theatre co-productions this year, will be staged as one of the highlights of a year-long series of events marking the centennial of the death of author Ivan Cankar.
ČRNA NA KOROŠKEM - A three-day festival dubbed King Matthias's Castles will get under way as part of which participants will build sculptures from ice and snow.
ŽALEC - The annual BUMfest percussion festival will kick off, to run until 28 January.
