Gosposvetska and Dalmatinova will be closed all the way to the intersection with Miklošičeva.

STA, March 16, 2018 - The municipality of Ljubljana has decided to fully close two streets in the city centre to speed up major reconstruction works which have been under way in Gosposvetska Street since August 2017. This means the wider city centre will be completely cut off until the summer holidays.

Due to the planned construction works, Gosposvetska Street and Dalmatinova Street all the way to its intersection with Miklošičeva Street will be closed for all motor vehicles between 3 April and 30 June, which is expected to cause congestions.

Special corridors will be set up alongside the construction site for pedestrians, bicycles, emergency vehicles and holders of special licences.

City buses will be rerouted and new temporary bus stops will be set up.

A new traffic arrangement will also be introduced in the northern part of Slovenska Street, diverting all vehicles to Tivolska Street.

Apart from archaeological excavations, the works will include renovation of the water distribution system, the sewage system, gas pipeline, hot water pipeline and public lighting.

Gosposvetska Street will also get a facelift to the model of that of Slovenska.

The new Dalmatinova Street will have an additional bicycle lane and trees in its car park.

The project, which also includes the renovation of the northern part of Slovenska Street, is being carried out by builders KPL and Hidrotehnik. The work was delayed somewhat due to prolonged winter conditions.
