STA, 16 July 2018 - Speaking of good but insufficient progress in negotiations and of serious reservations regarding the stability of a six-party coalition, the centre-right New Slovenia (NSi) decided on Monday to withdraw from the talks on a centre-left coalition led by election runner-up LMŠ.

STA, 6 July - Just over a month after the election, the outlines of the future coalition remain elusive. The latest round of consultations with President Borut Pahor on Friday did not produce headway as neither the election winner, Janez Janša, nor the runner-up, Marjan Šarec, have built up enough support to secure a majority in the National Assembly.

STA, 8 May 2018 - The first major televised debate of the election campaign on Monday evening showed an overwhelmingly tough stance on migrations among parties that dominate the polls. Most think Slovenia should beef up border security, some called for an EU-wide approach, and a few suggested a more nuanced focus on tackling migrations at the source.

Slovenia will go to an early general election on 3 June, President Borut Pahor announced on Saturday, when he also signed the decree to dissolve the National Assembly and call the election. His decision will be published in the Official Gazette today.
