STA, 10 August 2018 - The Left and five parties involved in coalition talks have initialled a cooperation protocol paving the way for the appointment of Marjan Šarec as prime minister-designate and for the formation of a minority government. The Left (Levica) will also provide votes for Social Democrat (SD) president Dejan Židan to become parliamentary speaker. 

STA, 8 August 2018 - The National Assembly is expected to take a vote on Marjan Šarec's bid to become Slovenia's next prime minister on 17 August. If he musters an absolute majority in the secret ballot, he will need to submit his cabinet to parliament by 1 September with the vote on the team to take place between 11 and 14 September. 

STA, 8 August 2018 - Marjan Šarec, a 40-year-old former comedian and mayor whose party came second in the 3 June election, was formally put forward for prime-minister designate by his and four other centrist parties on Wednesday. 

STA, 6 August - Marjan Šarec said after Monday's coalition-building talks that the five parties involved in the talks would nominate him prime minister-designate on Wednesday. Šarec expects the Left to endorse the nomination in the National Assembly as well. The parties also want SocDems head Dejan Židan appointed parliamentary speaker. 

STA, 1 August -2018 Prospective prime minister-designate Marjan Šarec has said a minority government is an option after the Left decided to stay out of a centre-left coalition, but there are also indications that he may seek broader support despite now being rejected both by the Left and New Slovenia (NSi).

STA, 25 July - After the conservative party New Slovenia (NSi) declined to return to coalition talks with the five centre-left parties led by Marjan Šarec, his party extended an invitation to the Left to join the talks, which Šarec said would be conducted in "good faith". 

STA, 24 July 2018 - The five parties trying to form a coalition led by Marjan Šarec have decided to give conservative New Slovenia (NSi) another chance to return to the talks before they extend an invitation to the Left. The NSi has until Monday to come clear about its intentions. 

STA, 20 July 2018 - The five centre-left parties headed by the election runner-up Marjan Šarec have decided to resume talks after conservative New Slovenia (NSi) walked out in a bid to form a coalition that will have more than 46 votes in the 90-member National Assembly. Asked to explain, they said the Left would be involved this time.
