STA, 9 July 2018 - The newspaper Dnevnik reports on Monday that Slovenian NGOs had found out that police officers are forcedly rejecting asylum seekers who cross the Slovenian border in the south-eastern region of Bela Krajina and returning them to Croatia. The police and the Ministry of the Interior have meanwhile denied these reports.

STA, 2 July 2018 - Neža Kogovšek Šalamon, the head of the NGO Peace Institute (Mirovni inštitut), warned against the proposed setting up of controlled migrant centres in response to agreements made at the EU Summit on migrations in Brussels. She deems such centres problematic because refugees would be confined to the centre until their asylum request is processed.

STA, 28 June 2018 - Slovenia has no intention of making any kind of bilateral agreement with Germany or any other country on accepting asylum seekers from those countries, Prime Minister Miro Cerar pointed out as he arrived at a summit on migrations starting in Brussels on Thursday.

STA, 18 June 2018 - A total of 1,450 people requested asylum in Slovenia last year, including 388 unaccompanied minors. The number of requests for asylum rose significantly in the spring only to plunge in June, Katarina Bervar Sternad of the Legal Information Centre of NGOs said at a book presentation on Monday.

STA, 11 June 2018 - The Slovenian police have expressed disagreement with a major anti-migration military and police exercise planned by Austria on the Slovenian border on 25 June, Slovenian Statehood Day. Interior Minister Vesna Györkös Žnidar spoke of "Austria's internal political issues that should not be spilling over to Slovenia".
