Biathlete Fak wins first medal for Slovenia

Biathlete Jakov Fak won silver in the men's 20-kilometre race, the first medal for Slovenia in PyeongChang and a career highlight for the 30-year-old. Fak gave an impeccable shooting performance and hit all 20 targets to finish just five and a half seconds behind Johannes Thinges Boe of Norway. Austria's Dominik Landertinger won bronze. This is the second Olympic medal for Fak, after he won bronze in the sprint race in Vancouver in 2010 representing Croatia.

Cross-country skier Čebašek on edge of top ten in 10-km freestyle

Alenka Čebašek was the best Slovenian cross-country skier in the women's 10-km freestyle race, finishing a minute and a half behind the winner Ragnihild Haga of Norway to take 12th place. "My goal was to make it to the top 20. I never imagined that I would finish even higher. It is a really perfect day for me and I'm madly happy." The other three Slovenians to compete were Anamarija Lampič (27th), Manca Slabanja (54th) and Nika Razinger (69th).

Biathlete Poje achieves career highlight in 10-km freestyle

Slovenian biathlete Urška Poje was 12th in the women's 15 km individual, finishing 2 minutes and 45 seconds behind the surprising winner, Hanna Oeberg of Sweden, for what is by far her best career achievement. The 20-year-old was one of the three competitors with no missed shots, along with the winner and the fourth-placed Franziska Preuss of Germany. Anja Eržen finished 35th, missed three shots in the final round after being perfect in the first three.

Hrovat 14th in women's giant slalom

Meta Hrovat finished 14th in the women's giant slalom in what was the Olympic debut for the 19-year-old. The youngest member of the Slovenian skiing team finished 2.33 seconds behind the winner, Mikaela Shiffrin of the US, after a bad first run. "I liked and enjoyed the second run. I'm not satisfied with the overall result, but I'm very satisfied with some parts." Two more Slovenians finished the race, with Meta Hrovat taking 16th place and Ana Bucik 20th. Slovenia's biggest hope Ana Drev crashed out in the second run.
