17-year old makes a good showing in women's ski jumping.

The STA has prepared the following round-up of the Slovene-centred action in PyeongChang  for February 12, 2018:

Križnar seventh in women's ski jumping

Nika Križnar finished seventh in the women's individual normal hill ski jumping event, in what is the best placement result for Slovenian athletes at the PyeongChang Olympics so far and the second best Olympic placement result for Slovenian women ski jumpers. The 17-year old, whose best result in the World Cup is 12th place in 2106, landed at 101 and 104 metres, securing 223.2 points. The 17-year old has never made it among the first three in World Cup events. This is the second Olympic appearance for the Slovenian women's ski jumpers. In Sochi four years ago, Maja Vtič placed 6th in the same event.

Biathlon: Bauer and Fak finish pursuit event 24th and 47th

Klemen Bauer finished 24th in men's 12.5-km biathlon pursuit event as the best Slovenian biathlete today, while Jakov Fak finished only 47th. Fak, Slovenia's medal hopeful, even stopped for one minute to consult his coach after the second shooting and three missed shots, but eventually decided to finish the race. Miha Dovžan beat only one competitor, placing 59th. The poor results come after Fak yesterday finished the 10-km sprint in the 23rd place, 55.4 seconds behind the new Olympic champion, Germany's Arnd Peiffer.

Verdnik finishes first Olympic appearance 21st in halfpipe

Snowboarder Kaja Verdnik expectedly finished her first Olympic appearance in halfpipe qualifications. She ended the competition in 21st place, beating three competitors. Despite "no special expectations", the snowboarder was not happy with her performance, having fallen in the first try and not putting in a convincing effort in the second.

Slovenian flag bearer not competing in her main event

Cross-country skier Vesna Fabjan carried the Slovenian flag at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, but it looks like she will not get the chance to defend the bronze medal in the individual sprint that she won in Sochi four years ago. "The race in Planica was the selection race, we know which ones were the best," the Slovenian team said after announcing that four other athletes would compete in the event on Tuesday.
