Luka Dončić started his career with the youth team of Petrol Olimpija before heading off to Real Madrid and now the Dallas Mavericks. But the movement of players between Slovenia and the US is no one-way street, as evidenced by the news that Jalek Felton, the former University of North Carolina (UNC) point guard, has signed with Dončić’s old team, and is due on the court in the upcoming season.

According to ESPN, Felton, 1.91 m and aged 20, was suspended by the university midseason for unspecified misconduct, with the both North Carolina and the player’s attorney Kerry Sutton declining to say more about the case. Felton played 22 games with UNC, and although on the court for an average of less than 10 minutes still averaged 2.9 points and 1.6 assists per game.

Felton will be the second American on the Olimpija’s current roster, joining 2.13 m tall power forward and centre Marvin Jones, who signed a two-year deal with the club last month.
