World Teachers' Day

Child abuse in kindergarten
"Institute Kengurujčki provided child care illegally": The Inspectorate for Education and Sport has found that the private kindergarten Kengurujčki, which made headlines after revelations of child abuse, was operating in Ljubljana without the required licences. (front page, 11)

"Snow already in October": The Slovenian Ski Federation presented yesterday all teams under its auspices at the Pohorje ski resort in Maribor, with the operator promising that the slope will be covered by artificial snow as of 20 October. (front page, 8, 9, 22)

Child abuse in kindergarten
"Illegal and without supervision": Following the revelation of child abuse in a private kindergarten in Ljubljana, a psychologist interviewed by the paper said that, if possible, parents should take their children to public kindergartens, where supervision is stricter. (front page, 2-3)

Dodgy football deals
"Mamić's deals in Slovenia": The investigation of an Umag-based company which is allegedly laundering money for the controversial Croatian football manager Zdravko Mamić, is also being carried out in Slovenia, with a former member of the management board of Telekom Slovenije among the suspects. Court cases
"Impol bosses acquitted": The Maribor Higher Court has acquitted Jernej Čokl and Vladimir Leskovar, the former managers of aluminium products maker Impol, of charges of abuse of office and rights. The two were found guilty of defrauding Impol of EUR 1.6m last year and given two-year suspended sentences. (front page, 20-21)
