Below is a review of the headlines in Slovenian dailies for Friday, 4 May 2018, as prepared by the STA

DELO

Natural heritage
"Privatisation of natural landmarks": Local communities, associations and the state are collecting entry fees for visiting natural landmarks because in most cases this is the only income they have for maintaining the landmark. (front page, 4)

Banks
"Ownership of most banks operating in Slovenia in draught": Almost three quarters of the banks operating in Slovenia could get new owners soon. In addition to the state-owned banks and the small privately-held banks, banks NKBM and Addiko could also get new owners. (front page, 9)

General election
"'We need order in the country. But I'm not speaking of dictatorship'": The paper runs a teaser for an interview with Kamnik Mayor Marjan Šarec, the first in a series of interviews with the heads of parties that will be competing in the upcoming general election. (front page)

Trial
"Retired Maribor Archbishop Franc Kramberger denies all accusations": Retired Maribor Archbishop Franc Kramberger denied all accusations levelled at him at a hearing in the trial over contentious transactions of publisher Mladinska Knjiga shares in 2003. (front page, 2)

Education
"Matura essay stifles creativity": Secondary school professors and university experts claim that students who stick to instructions instead of those who are the most original and think independently win most points for their essays in the matura school leaving exam. They argue essays stifle creativity instead of encouraging it. (front page, 4)

Magna
"Magna's story about 1,000 employees": The paper has obtained the contract for the car parts supplier Magna Steyr's investment near Maribor. According to Dnevnik, Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek misled the public when he claimed that Magna committed to creating 1,000 jobs in ten years because the figure also includes all jobs created by Magna's suppliers, contractors and others. (front page, 3)

FINANCE

Pharmacies
"What is cooking in Lekarna Ljubljana? It is secretive about its strategy and about its wholesaler": Pharmacy chain Lekarna Ljubljana has labelled its five year strategy a business secret and it seems that instead of selling its wholesaler, which it should do under law, the chain is developing it to become a retailer. (front page, 4, 5)

Economic forecast
"This year's 4.7% economic growth encouraged by higher pay and big investment": The European Commission has upgraded its forecast for Slovenia's growth this year by 0.5 points to 4.7%. Regardless, the forecast is lower than that of the government forecaster IMAD, which expects Slovenia's GDP to expand by 5.1% this year. (front page, 2, 3)

Holiday home rentals
"Season is here, do you know how to rent out your holiday home to tourists in Slovenia and Croatia?": Rules for renting out holiday homes in both Slovenia and Croatia, where many Slovenians have properties, are quite strict and complicated and involve registering with the authorities. (front page, 6)

"Children increasingly clumsy in writing": Children are getting clumsier in writing and are having trouble with Slovenian in schools. Way of life, not kindergartens and schools, are to blame, a principal of a primary school says. (front page, 5)

Lenart
"'Beheading trees'": The trimming of trees in Lenart, a town in the north-east, has provoked outrage among locals, with one describing it as beheading the trees. Meanwhile, Lenart Mayor Janez Kramberger says it is a compromise because some fear untrimmed trees could pose a threat to property and lives in natural disasters. (front page, 15)

General election
