Dubbed The Ljubljanica, a River that Connects, the project focusses on communications and borders, military areas and migrations, as well as social and cultural borders along the river.

This is also the theme of a new temporary exhibition opening as part of the Ljubljanica River Exhibition in the town of Vrhnika, the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana, one of the partners in the project, said in a press release on Tuesday.
The project received the award as part of the European Heritage Stories, a pilot initiative designed to encourage local communities to share their stories.
The story about the Ljubljanica was listed among the best ten stories from Europe from a short-list of 25, whereas 100 stories from around Europe had been submitted.
The award was given out at the European Heritage Days assembly, the culmination of the European Heritage Days, which was held in France's Strasbourg last week.
The debate at the assembly focused on the future of European cultural heritage and storytelling, as well as on European identity and the inclusion of the young.
The European Heritage Days are a joint action of the Council of Europe and the European Commission in the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018.
