STA, 31 July 2018 - Some 72% of Slovenian households could afford a week-long vacation last year, up three percentage points over the year before and the highest since the data series began in 2005, the Statistics Office said.

The shares vary significantly depending on type and financial situation of household, but the figures suggest the majority of households did not have major problems financing a vacation for all family members.

Almost nine in ten households with two adults and one child took a vacation, whereas only 60% of those living in single households did.

As many as 94% of households in the highest income brackets vacationed, and even in the lowest income bracket 46% of households took a holiday.

In total, two-thirds of those over 15 took at least one private trip last year.

Croatia was the top choice, accounting for 64% of all trips, followed by Italy (7%), Bosnia-Herzegovina (5%) and Austria (5%).
