Slovenian start-up plans to test cryptocurrency payments at the shopping complex.

March 16, 2018

It seems the story of BTC City being Bitcoin City, and not a shopping mall complex just outside of Ljubljana, continues to have legs. What started as a prank by a local artist who goes by the name The Miha Artnak earlier this year has resurfaced in a current crypto story, as the bitcoinist website has a story from today entitled “Elipay enabling crypto transactions in the first bitcoin city”.

The first paragraph runs: “The team behind Eligma, an AI-driven and blockchain-based cognitive commerce platform, announced the first of many features, which they will start testing in the first Bitcoin city this April.”

While it should be noted that Dejan Roljič, founder and CEO of the company, is quoted in the article as referring to BTC City as “a retail, logistics, business and entertainment centre,” with no reference to Bitcoin (aka BTC), the promotional video isn’t quite as clear.

Eligma, as per the related site, is “an AI-driven and blockchain-based cognitive commerce platform that will change the way people discover, purchase, track and resell items online”. The technology is said to:

…offer users ‘one-place’ from where they can shop in all the online stores anywhere in the world, check the value of items in their household and learn the best time to sell them. Eligma will offer users a completely decentralized universal loyalty program and help transform every household into a business.

Those interested in getting in on the action are directed to Eligma’s website, which shows that the start-up is in the final countdown before the start of its ICO presale, with the coins being offered at 1 ELI for 0.10 USD. There are 500 million coins in total, and 300 million of these are for sale. The company is thus valuing its coins at 50 million USD, and looking to raise 30 million on the market.
