Paul Krza

Paul Krza

Paul Krza is a longtime USA journalist who gained Slovene citizenship in 2015. He learned his craft on ground zero in his gritty mining hometown of Rock Springs, Wyoming, when the city boomed in the 1970s during construction of a coal-fired power plant that triggered turmoil, a mix of crime, corruption and quick-buck development. He and journalist spouse Kate Padilla chronicled the turbulent events on local radio news, and his reporting appeared in the statewide Casper Star-Tribune. He subsequently worked as an editor at the paper and wrote columns on Wyoming culture and politics (including Dick Cheney). When he and Padilla moved to New Mexico, he continued freelance writing for various publications, including the environmental-oriented High Country News. He and Kate have also traveled, randomly, unplanned and uncharted, for weeks, and sometimes, months at a time, to Slovenia, other parts of Europe, throughout the Balkans, in most of Central America, and to Cuba and Vietnam.
