Jay Ebben

Jay Ebben is an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.  He and his family lived in Slovenia for five months in 2011, when he received a Fulbright Scholarship to teach and research in Ljubljana.  He helped to develop the Summer Economics Institute in Slovenia and has taught in the program five of the past six years.

Jay’s experiences in Slovenia inspired him to write Painted Hives, a novel about a boy who travels to Ljubljana to take a beekeeping class.  The novel was recently named a finalist for the First Horizons award for debut authors.

Jay lives in St. Paul with his wife and their three young children.  He volunteers as a beekeeper at the Tamarack Nature Center and is on the board of the Great River Coalition, whose vision is to plant a pollinator pathway the entire length of the Mississippi River.
