STA, 27 May 2018 - With exactly a week to parliamentary election, a survey by pollster Parsifal published by newsportal Nova24TV on Sunday shows the Democrats (SDS) firmly in the lead. Although the party has shed nearly two points, it has increased its advantage ahead of the Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ) in second place. 

STA, 24 May 2018 - President Borut Pahor will offer a mandate to form a new government to the relative winner of the 3 June election, regardless of whether they would then be able to build a government or not.

Some potential partners remain coy, others outright hostile to joining an SDS coalition.

STA, 11 May - Topics such as the dangers of migrations and the need to protect national identities were at the forefront as the opposition Democrats (Slovenska demokratska stranka, SDS) held their main election convention in Celje on Friday. 

STA, 11 May 2018 - The opposition Democrats (SDS) appear to have affirmed their leading position in the polls with three weeks to go until the general election. The latest poll by Mediana gives them a full five-point lead on the non-parliamentary Marjan Šarec List, with the coalition Social Democrats a distant third. 

STA, 9 May 2018 - Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Janković, the head of Positive Slovenia (PS), and head of the Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) Karl Erjavec have signed an agreement establishing a "left bloc". The main point of the agreement is the commitment that the parties in the bloc will not form a coalition with the centre-right Democrats (SDS).

He will not be a candidate just anywhere, he will run in the Grosuplje district, the stronghold of the man whose name he took for artistic purposes, Democrat (SDS) leader Janez Janša. 

STA, 25 April 2018 – Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Janković broke silence about his potential role in the 3 June general election, declaring that he would get involved, but was yet to decide "in what way and how intensely". He was willing to do everything in his power to prevent a victory by Democrat leader Janez Janša.
