On a tourist farm by the Austrian border.

If making a list of the most romantic sights in Slovenia, then up near the top, along with Lake Bled, would be the “heart-shaped road” (Srčkasta cesta) in Špičnik, a view so lovely that the tourist office for Alsace even claimed it was in France.

Of course, the actual road isn’t shaped like a heart – if it were, it’d be a circular route – and the heart only appears when standing in the right viewing position. Seen from above, this is what you get:

This explains why all the pictures are taken from the same angle.

However, a key point here is that the viewing spot is on private property, the Dreisiebner Tourist Farm, which is open to visitors and overnight guests. You should thus plan a trip around enjoying some of the farm’s hospitality, which should be an easy and pleasing affair, as the delights on offer include a full menu of dishes made with produce from the farm and its surroundings, as well as glasses and bottles of wine from the vineyards.

There are also regular wine tastings so you can sample of what’s available before going home with a case or two, as well as the normal delights of a farm for children to explore. Moreover, the site’s proximity to the Austrian border mean you can take a short walk before or after your meal that takes you through two countries, an opportunity that should always be seized.

The farm can be found at Špičnik 1, 2201 Zgornja Kungota, and is open all year. If you’d like stay the night then there are a number of rooms, sleeping from two to seven. Reservations can be made via Facebook or telephone 00386 (0)2 656-0040 or 00386 (0)31 268-114, with English, German, Croatian and Slovenian being spoken. The official website is currently offline, but there’s a Slovene-only page here on the site for tourist farms.
