STA, 19 October 2018 - The opposition Democrats (SDS), the relative winner of the June general election, had invested the biggest amount of funds in the election campaign of all parties, while the party of Prime Minister Marjan Šarec had used the invested funds in the most effective way compared to the proportion of the vote it won.

STA, 29 August 2018 - The presidents of the Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ), Social Democrats (SD), Modern Centre Party (SMC), Alenka Bratušek Party (SAB) and Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) signed a coalition agreement on Wednesday, pledging to work together in a minority government under Marjan Šarec in the period 2018-2022.

STA, 23 August 2018 - Dejan Židan, the 50-year-old leader of the Social Democrats, was appointed the 13th speaker of Slovenia's National Assembly on Thursday, after interim Speaker Matej Tonin of the conservative New Slovenia (NSi) resigned in line with an agreement made beforehand with the emerging centre-left coalition.

STA, 23 August 2018 - The emerging coalition is determined to proceed with the plans to build the second rail track between Koper and Divača, a major infrastructure project worth around EUR 1bn. It would also like to modernise roads and railways, and gradually redirect cargo transport from roads to railways.
