July 14, 2018

Austria’s Jessica Pilz took first place after being the only woman to reach the top in the lead climbing event at Chamonix, leaving Slovenia’s Janja Garnbret in second place after falling with her last move, and Korea’s Jain Kim in third. This was the second competition of the season, which saw both Garnbret and Pilz with 180 points in the overall championship, and Kim with 130, with their current World Cup Rankings being first, second and third, respectively.

The men’s event was won by Stefano Ghisolfi (Italy), the only man to top the wall, followed by Austria’s Jakob Schubert and Germany’s Alexander Megos, with Slovenia’s Domen Škofic – the 2016 World Champion – just missing the podium with a fourth place finish. Overall, Schubert is currently top of the rankings, with 180 points, followed by Ghisolfi (155), Megos (102), and Škofic (98).
