STA, 14 June 2018 - Moderna Galerija, the national museum of modern art, will launch a retrospective of sculptor Drago Tršar's monumental works on Thursday. Monument - Drago Tršar, which was incepted in cooperation with several museums and galleries, features more than 50 works the artist has created since the 1950s.

The large pieces featured are accompanied by aerial images and videos of selected public monuments and sculptures that stand in Slovenia or abroad.

Curator Marko Jenko, who has chosen the works in close collaboration with the artist, labelled Tršar's oeuvre, which encompasses sculptures as well as drawings, paintings, graphic prints, ceramics and other works, as certainly exceptional.

He pointed to the artist's history of exhibitions, highlighting above all his selection to a representative exhibition of global sculpture at the Guggenheim Museum in New York in the 1960s.

The exhibition is part of the intra-institutional project dedicated to the artist who turned 90 last year. The project is coordinated by Moderna Galerija and encompasses six other public galleries.
